Nike Air Max. The shoe. It has been with us through generations and has become one of the greatest shoes in sneaker history. The #majorkey of 90s and a #musthave of 2010s. Althoughhh, I have some flashbacks from my teenage years (aka me being annoying 13-14 years old gal who knows all-about-fashion) of me & mum going through some old photo albums and seeing mum’s white-black-neon-organge Air Maxes. It was post Soviet Union and proper 90s. Having a pair of Nike’s was super exclusive/rare/badass at that time. And I remember laughing at those pictures and being like “eww, what are those, I will never ever, like EVER (!) wear smth like this”; my mum telling me “никогда не говори никогда, мода всегда возвращается / never say never, fashion is a circle“, and me rolling my eyes at her.
Well-well, here we are. I got my first pair of Air Maxes couple of months ago and I am a proud mama of three babies now (almost… sharing one pair with my mum, haha). And you know what’s cool. I was visiting my grandparents yesterday and went through the albums. And I actually managed to find those old pics where mama/me are wearing the very same Air Maxes (sorry about the quality, tho). And pay extra attention to my outfit haha.
Today is the perfectly right day to give our kudos to Mr. Hatfield – THE man behind Nike Air Max shoes. If it wasn’t for him, we wouldn’t be celebrating international Air Max Day. Share the love, share your babies and don’t forget to add #airmaxday to the post (or go straight to the store and buy a pair if you don’t have one just yet), XX.
